Nemanja Rosic: Electric Dreams 2.0
Nemanja Rosic Artist Statement: My work is a result of my fascination with the electronic information processors. Access to information has become a necessity, and our reliance on information processors is "umbilical-cord-dependant" today. Microchips and electronic circuitry hold in their consistent, uniform, symmetrical and textural design a potential for visual metaphors. These metaphors can be applied in a larger context than the original industrial function of the created design. By dissecting and re-assembling the chips / processors / circuitry via painting, I combine an aesthetic perspective into this industrial product. I strive to give the micro-circuit the physicality and pictorial strength it needs to become a beautiful and visually powerful macro-object. As an artist I marvel the intricacies of science and hope to glorify them beyond their utilitarian functions.

HYDROLOGY
The endless cycle of water-from sea to vapor to rain to ice and back to rivers, lakes and oceans--was the theme for this exhibition at the Chelsea Center for the arts. Co-sponsored by the Huron River Watershed Council and the Legacy Land Conservancy, the exhibit explored humans' relationship to water and to the natural cycles of the planet. Curated by Cathy Barry.
