Summer 2008
10th Anniversary Celebration: Thursday August 28 from 5-7pm
One decade ago, Kathleen and Jeff Daniels donated the former St. Mary
Parish Center to the Chelsea Center for the Development of the Arts for
one dollar! Since then, we've shortened our name, but we've continued
to open our doors to all to share in the joys of creative experiences
in art, music, and community arts.
Legend has it that they sent a card featuring Dorothy's ruby slippers
and inside was the message
"There's no place like home."
So, follow the yellow-brick road behind the CCA for barbeque, live music,
dollar-bill origami, and sidewalk-chalk art! Please bring your munchkins!
We'll also celebrate the re-opening of our "Project Arts” Garage
Studio – the CCA's space for pottery, sculpture, and community
arts projects. After our celebration, stroll downtown to enjoy Sounds & Sights,
Chelsea's weekly downtown festival on Thursday Nights from 6 – 8
pm.
CCA's Music Director mentioned by Jeff Daniels
CCA's Music Director and Vocal Music instructor, Lisa Hinz-Johnson,
helped Daniels prepare for his upcoming role in "Turn of the Century." Read
the full article in Detroit Hour magazine.
CCA Welcomes Molly Root
Molly is our new Program Assistant and will be overseeing classes, workshops,
events, and more. We are excited to have her on board. She
is a modern dancer and choreographer and has been working in arts administration
since she graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. After
returning home to Ann Arbor last year, she worked at Dance Gallery
Studio as Studio Manager. Molly is thrilled to be at the CCA
in such a warm and creative environment and hopes to share her enthusiasm
for the arts! Take a peak at www.mollyroot.com to
see more about Molly.
