CCA's Rose Bradley chosen as new "Artist-in Residence" at the Terrace Inn
CCA's Works In Progress co-director Rose Bradley has been chosen to be an "Artist-in Residence" at the Terrace Inn in Petoskey, Michigan next summer. Congratulations, Rose!
About the CCA's Works In Progress sessions
If you haven't yet participated, Works In Progress is a weekly drop-in session where artists share tips and tricks with the occasional guest demonstrator. There's lots of time to work, share and critique as a group. Held at St. Mary Church. Drop-in fee is $5.
A note from Rose:
We have done three kinds of masking techniques, and abstract painting "wet-in-wet". Next will be a class on "negative painting", and perhaps "lifting out" This has been great for newcomers. No drawing involved, and simple watercolor techniques are explained one step at a time. It is really a lot of fun. So come on Friday and let your "Right Brain" play for a while. Remember we meet from 10:00 to 1:00 now, still in room 9 at St Mary Parish center. Hope to see you there!
Heating and Cooling Installed on CCA's Upper Level
Thank you to Indoor Comfort and Mike Martin for a tremendous donation of service during the installation of our new HVAC system in the upper floor of the Chelsea Center for the Arts. This recent project is funded in large part by the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs with a grant of $25,000.
Indoor Comfort gave a significant discount to our organization so that we would be able to complete the necessary work. Owner Mike Martin, says "I think it is important to continue to support the arts, even when the economic climate in Michigan is so miserable. From all that I have observed, CCA is certainly a worthwhile cause, and I hope we can continue to support it."
Should you need any work done this winter, we can highly recommend for work on your home heating system. Please visit their website to find out more: www.indoorcomfort.net
