Chelsea's Sounds & Sights Summer Series Announces Auditions
Calling all musicians, entertainers & Idol diehards – Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights,
the popular summer concert series in downtown Chelsea, is holding auditions for this year's entertainment
lineup on MONDAY, APRIL 7th, 5-7pm at the COMMON GRILL RESTAURANT. The restaurant is located at
112 S. Main Street in downtown Chelsea.
Now in it's fourth season, Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights has grown from 1 performer each Thursday
to 8-12, playing at various outdoor locations around downtown Chelsea. As many as 1,500 people attended
the free concert series each Thursday in 2007. This year's schedule kicks off June 19 and runs every
Thursday through August 28th.
"This event has really grown as word has spread", says Craig Common, co-organized and owner of the Common Grill.
"We have received many inquiries from performers all over Michigan who want to be a part of this event.
And, we have a talented representation from our local music scene with many local artists performing
including several youth performers. We expect to see a lot of talent again at this year's auditions."
There are 70 paying spots available on the schedule. Auditions are open to musicians, singer/song-writers,
jugglers, magicians, performers, dance troupes, artists, and other street arts performers, and will be judged
before a panel of local artists, committee members and merchants. Performers should be prepared to share a 3-5
minute sample performances in front of these judges. Selected performers can sign on for a number of
performances throughout the summer. Applications available ONLY on day of audition.
For more information visit www.chelseafestivals.com, or call the Chelsea Center
for the Arts at 734-433-2787.
Sounds & Sights is presented by the downtown Chelsea Merchants, the Chelsea
Retail Advisory Council, and the Chelsea Center for the Arts.
